About the founder

Maja Grewe founded the International Academy of Health and Skincare in 1991. The pupils have grown from a group of 18 to over 300. The Academy has a reputation of offering students lucrative and exciting careers in the beauty business both locally and abroad. Many students come from various parts of the world and take advantage of the hostel facilities offered to them by the Academy, giving them not just a safe place to stay while they study but peace of mind to their parents.

Maja’s dynamic personality and passion for the beauty business has been the perfect ingredient for her success. She prides herself on 22 years of experience in the beauty industry. In 1998 the Academy’s proposal to the Department of Education to include an Accredited Matriculation Course was approved and in 1999 the first group of students began their National Senior Certificate Course with Beauty Therapy subjects.

A key to Maja’s success is her sincere interest in the students’ welfare and career path after they have completed their training. The Academy prides itself in creating job opportunities for it’s students not just locally but in other exciting cities
in the world. Many of the Academy’s graduates have successfully opened their own salons throughout South Africa and abroad. Maja Grewe also sits on the main Board of SAAHSP.
